POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance employee oversees the repair and maintenance of equipment and assists the facilities manager in an effort to assure complete maintenance and proper repair of all facility and material handling equipment in a cost-efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The individual must have the ability to perform the responsibilities listed below. The list is not all inclusive of duties that may be requested by the department head or a member of upper management, but are intended for an understanding of the purpose of the position. It is the responsibility of each individual at AWG to provide ultimate customer service to our members to support their efforts in increasing same-store sales and profits.
This position has MHE and building responsibilities – the applicant should possess a wide range of skills including high and low voltage, AC/DC voltage, HVAC, variable frequency drives and advanced trouble shooting skills across a wide range of equipment.
The applicant must also be:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver's License, Ammonia Technician I Certification (or ability to earn within a reasonable time frame as determined by management), Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) or Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) through RETA (or ability to earn within a reasonable time frame as determined by management, HAZOPER 8 and HAZWOPER 24 HR Emergency training, Must be able to be respirator certified

- Read and comprehend repair and maintenance manuals, blueprints and schematics and be able to follow the diagnostic and repair procedures specified.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual maintenance activities in a safe and timely manner.
- Safely perform work, including adherence to AWG policies such as lock-out tag-out and confined space entry.
- Repair, maintain, spec and install heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment – all electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and any other systems and subsystems on the same with the use of hand tools, power tools, multi-meters and other electrical based diagnostic or PC based tools. Must be able to use rules, calipers, micrometers, gauges and other measuring devices/instruments to determine dimensional or capacity requirements.
- Possess knowledge and competency in residential, commercial, industrial and Freon based HVAC systems.
- Repair, maintain, spec and install gassing equipment and systems used in banana rooms.
- Perform troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance in an accurate, sound and timely manner as determined by management.
- Will operate welding, brazing, soldering equipment and torch/plasma cutting equipment in the repair of equipment in new fabrication applications.
- Keep proper records and documentation as set forth by local, state and federal laws and company policies and procedures. Perform continuing education/licensing as required by the same.
- Complete Job Repair Orders properly and accurately.
- Assist in proper inventory count and control.
- Safety: Promote a safe work environment ensuring that all department employees are adhering to OSHA and company safety policies. Accident prevention must be considered an inseparable part of everyday operations. Set safety goals annually as part of the career/personal development plan and develop action plans to achieve those goals.
