Position Summary
Responsible for scheduling patients' surgeries accurately and efficiently while providing patients with education regarding their surgical procedure, pre-operative instructions, and the overall surgical process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule surgical procedures accurately and efficiently while coordinating with providers, facilities, and patients.
- Provide patient education regarding surgical procedures, pre-operative and post-operative instructions, and answer patient questions within the scope of training and licensure.
- Answer phone calls from patients requiring clinical assistance and triage concerns appropriately.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, providers, and fellow staff members.
- Assist with patient care and clerical duties as needed during high-volume or emergent situations.
- Serve as a resource to Medical Assistants, nursing staff, and other team members as appropriate.
- Participate in departmental and organizational meetings as assigned.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation and recordkeeping.
- Assist with the orientation and training of new surgery scheduling personnel.
- Strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations and all company policies regarding patient confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB TYPE

- 40 hours per week
- Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Medical Assistant certification (preferred where applicable) or current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- One year of experience in a medical office, surgical practice, or clinical setting preferred.
- Experience scheduling surgical procedures preferred.
- Strong clinical knowledge appropriate to education and licensure.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to educate patients regarding surgical procedures and coordinate care effectively.
