We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Operating Room Circulating Nurse to join our surgical team. Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments are sterile, functional, and properly arranged for each procedure.
- Act as a liaison between surgical team members, providing support and facilitating communication throughout the operative process.
- Monitor patient safety by verifying identification, allergies, and medical history; assist with patient positioning and documentation.
- Assist in maintaining strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during surgeries to prevent contamination.
- Manage intraoperative documentation accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as PatientNow, including surgical notes and equipment logs.
- Coordinate with anesthesia providers for patient monitoring and respond promptly to any intraoperative changes or emergencies.
- Support surgeons with instrument handling, counting supplies to prevent retained foreign objects, and ensuring all surgical procedures adhere to hospital policies and standards.
- Participate in post-operative activities such as wound care assessment, specimen handling, and ensuring proper transfer of patient care information for recovery or further treatment.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a circulating nurse in an operating room setting with exposure to diverse surgical specialties including Plastic Surgery.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterile processing procedures, and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems for documentation purposes.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during surgeries while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
- Prior experience with medical terminology related to Plastic Surgery is highly desirable.
