What We Do
Animal Care Attendants are the heart of our daily shelter operations. They ensure that every animal receives the highest standard of care, from feeding and cleaning to enrichment and adoption support. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for all shelter animals while supporting AHS’s mission of kindness, rescue, and rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily, compassionate care for all animals within the shelter.
- Feed animals according to established schedules and special dietary needs.
- Clean and sanitize animal housing areas, bedding, dishes, and surrounding environments.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, documenting observations and reporting any concerns to appropriate staff or departments.
- Assist with basic medical procedures and support services such as fecal collection or medication administration as directed.
- Learn breed characteristics, animal behavior, and handling techniques to educate adopters, fosters, and rescue partners.
- Participate in meet-and-greets, adoptions, and behavioral assessments as needed.
- Collaborate with adoption staff to ensure a positive experience for all visitors and maintain a high level of customer service.
- Adhere to all AHS safety, cleaning, and animal care protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and performance.
- Support shelter events, community outreach, and other departmental initiatives.
- Complete all duties as assigned while upholding AHS standards of care and professionalism.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.72 - $18.00 per hour
