Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled NICU Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory therapy, with experience in various settings including critical care, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. The Respiratory Therapist will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with respiratory conditions, ensuring optimal patient care and outcomes.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate respiratory function and needs.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including the use of ventilators and airway management techniques.
- Monitor vital signs and respond to changes in patient conditions promptly.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding respiratory health and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and treatment responses.
- Stay current with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology related to respiratory therapy.
- Participate in emergency medicine situations as needed, providing critical support during acute care scenarios.
- Engage in outpatient services as well as inpatient care within hospital settings, including Level I and Level II trauma centers.
Qualifications
- Valid certification or licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, NICU critical care, PICU, OR, or emergency medicine preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pulmonary physiology and medication administration related to respiratory therapy.
- Familiarity with medical equipment used for respiratory treatment and monitoring.
- Excellent patient assessment skills with the ability to interpret vital signs accurately.
- Experience working within various age groups including pediatrics, geriatrics, and acute care settings.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments while maintaining attention to detail.
