GM/Grocery Supervisor/Assistant
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in ordering the merchandise for the department and is familiar with the store ordering cycle, makes corrections to the order books as needed, supervises orders written by outside suppliers and maintains minimum back room inventory.
- Assist in maintaining accurate pricing by use of price books, daily/weekly price change sheets and merchandising and promotional lists.
- Works with manager on establishing and monitoring team member work schedules.
- Maintains effective control of department labor and inventory in line with established guidelines.
- Maintains an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing areas at all times as it relates to your departments.
- Plans aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales. Assists management with cross merchandising ideas with other departments.
- Maintains adequate and appropriate department records at all times
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Possess knowledge of related products and equipment along with a willingness to learn
- Working knowledge of sales, gross profit margin, and labor scheduling
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and task with a high attention to detail
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
