JOB SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Senior Accounting Specialist manages pharmacy receivables and disbursements using specialized accounting software. This role involves daily interaction with insurance companies, pharmacy teams, and store personnel to resolve account issues and ensure accurate financial processing.
Essential Duties
• Maintain and monitor member accounts, ensuring timely payments and resolving discrepancies
• Reconcile customer statements and process daily cash, disbursements, transfers, and petty cash
• Communicate with insurance and PBM companies regarding past due payments
• Apply received payments to correct accounts and issue credits/debits as needed
• Track accounts and initiate collection procedures when necessary
• Collaborate with store owners, bookkeepers, and pharmacy staff to resolve issues
• Research and resolve customer statement inquiries
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
• Associate degree in a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3–5 years of relevant experience; retail pharmacy experience preferred
• Knowledge of credit policies, accounting, and bookkeeping principles
• Familiarity with collection regulations and fair credit practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• A Senior Accounting Specialist for pharmacy must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements
• Office-based work with prolonged sitting and computer use
• Regular on-site attendance required
