Position Summary The Patient Service Coordinator in a medical office serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in ensuring the clinic runs smoothly. This position involves providing exceptional customer service, managing patient appointments, handling insurance verification, and performing various administrative tasks. PSCs are also responsible for greeting patients, answering calls, collecting payments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the clinical team. Working as part of a collaborative team, this role ensures efficient clinic operations while delivering a positive patient experience. Expected compensation between $19.97 - $23.97/hour. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience and skills. Patient Service Coordinator Essential Functions Greet and check in patients as they arrive at the office, making them feel welcome and ensuring a positive patient experience Collect patient information and update records, confirming that all necessary forms are completed before the patient is seen by the doctor Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility for all scheduled appointments Document all insurance verification results in the Practice Management system Notify patients of any potential insurance coverage issues or out-of-pocket expenses Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments ensuring that all relevant information is entered into the Practice Management system correctly Enter appointment reminder information into Practice Management system based on Providers direction Process patient payments for services rendered, including co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket expenses Collect payments for retail products Ensure that daily deposits and designated paperwork are sent to the Business Office each day and that information is complete and accurate Print daily reports to verify insurance authorizations are in place and complete for the patient s appointment Maintain a clean and organized front desk area, ensuring that all patient documents and information are properly filed and secured Sort and distribute mail and inter-office pouches daily Prepare clinic signage for Saturday clinic, holidays and days the office is closed Work collaboratively with co-workers, clinic staff, optical, physicians, and all other departments to ensure a smooth workflow Handle patient complaints or concerns in a calm and empathetic manner to diffuse situation; documenting concerns as needed Other Essential Functions Must be willing and able to work a variety of hours and work in the various locations as needed Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time Participates in department and company meetings, as requested Provides training and support to new staff or less experienced team members as needed Performs other duties as assigned
