The Senior Full Stack Developer-LAMP is responsible for supporting the Association’s operations, members, chapters and strategic initiatives. This role works collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, subject matter experts and IT team to design and manage the critical SAAS application using the LAMP technology stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP).

The position serves as the owner and developer of critical SAAS application utilized by ABC National, ABC chapters and members, ensuring reliable functionality, system performance, security and continuous improvement of key business platforms. This position will help define and execute a roadmap to move ABC from 70 independent Microsoft Access systems to a custom SaaS solution hosted in AWS. This role also supports system integrations, application performance optimization, troubleshooting and ongoing technology enhancements that help advance ABC’s strategic priorities and member services.


Location, Travel Requirements and Salary

Though the Association’s headquarters are in Washington, DC, the position may be located anywhere in the continental United States. This role requires minimal travel and may occasionally require visits to the corporate office to support operational or business needs.


The hiring salary range for this position is $140,000 to $155,000 plus bonus, based on experience. The pay range is based on living in the Washington, DC region. Compensation may be adjusted based on the geographic location of the finalist.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Enterprise level web applications using PHP and MySQL.
  • Design and manage relational databases.
  • Build responsive front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and related frameworks.
  • Configure and maintain Apache web servers on Linux environments.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party services.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and resolve application issues.
  • Write clean, efficient and well-documented code.
  • Perform application testing, deployment and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment.
  • Ensure application security, performance and scalability.
  • Lead projects from initiation through completion, ensuring timelines, deliverables and stakeholder expectations are effectively managed.
  • Gather business and technical requirements for improvements and new functionality.
  • Manage support ticketing queue with other IT team members.
  • Administer and maintain development, UAT and production environment.
  • Maintain release pipelines.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production issues as well as deploy hot fixes for critical bugs.
  • Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) data from source systems using tools to MySQL database.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of direct experience developing and supporting applications within the LAMP stack environment including strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, Linux server environments and Apache configuration.
  • Strong understanding of front-end web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap and jQuery.
  • Experience working with MVC frameworks utilizing a model-first design approach as well as REST APIs and web services integrations.
  • Experience with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) development techniques.
  • Experience using GitHub or similar version control systems for application development and deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Linux , AWS or other cloud-related certifications preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience working with the CakePHP framework.
  • Familiarity with cloud hosting environments, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and software release processes.
  • Experience with web caching technologies and application performance optimization.
  • Understanding of web application security best practices and secure coding standards.
  • Ability to work within and adhere to the ABC National Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian product suite, including Jira and Confluence.

Work Environment: This role is primarily performed in a standard office setting with minimal noise and typical working conditions.

  • Depending on job responsibilities, work may also be conducted at off-site locations such as construction sites, industry events, or partner facilities. These environments may involve variable weather, uneven terrain, or other safety considerations.
  • ABC supports flexible work schedules to accommodate various lifestyles and promote a healthy work-life balance. With manager approval, a hybrid remote work arrangement may be available, with the ABC office as the primary work location.
