Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Activities Director to lead the planning and execution of life-enriching programs in our Assisted Living community. This role is essential in promoting residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being through a variety of engaging, meaningful activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with a genuine passion for working with older adults. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Activities Director will develop and oversee a calendar of events that fosters a vibrant, inclusive community atmosphere. This includes coordinating recreational, educational, and wellness-based activities, managing volunteers, and collaborating with other departments to ensure a holistic approach to resident care.
```Duties```
- Plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of activities and events for residents in a nursing home or assisted living facility
- Develop and implement programs that promote socialization, engagement, and overall well-being of residents
- Coordinate and facilitate group activities such as games, crafts, exercise classes, and outings
- Provide one-on-one support to residents who may have specific needs or limitations
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure activities are tailored to meet the individual needs and preferences of residents
- Maintain activity calendars and schedules to ensure a variety of options are available for residents to participate in
- Assist with the coordination of special events and celebrations
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make adjustments as needed
```Qualifications```
- Bachelor's degree in social work, recreation therapy, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with individuals with dementia or memory care needs is highly desired
- Knowledge of aging issues and counseling techniques is beneficial
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously
