One of the highest-paying part-time paraeducator roles in Sacramento County.

The role:

Some students need a dedicated adult beside them in order to participate in after-school programs. Without that person, they go home while their classmates stay and play.

You would be that person.

You'll be matched to one student at an Elk Grove elementary school and work alongside them each afternoon — helping them join activities, connect with other kids, follow their support plan, and have the kind of afternoon every kid should get to have.

What you'll do

• Support one assigned student throughout the after-school program
• Help them take part in games, enrichment, homework time, and snack
• Encourage friendships and connection with the other students
• Follow the student's individual education and behavior support plan
• Provide personal care — this role includes toileting and diapering assistance, feeding support, and help with mobility and transfers
• Keep a short daily log and communicate with your site coordinator
• Greet families at pickup and share how the afternoon went

What you need

• High school diploma or GED, plus one of the following:
• 48 semester units of college credit, or
• An AA degree or higher, or
• A passing score on the Elk Grove Unified paraeducator exam
• Ability to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background check and a TB screening
• Able to be on your feet for four hours and assist with lifting up to 50 pounds
• Patience, steadiness, and genuine warmth toward kids
• Reliability — your student is counting on you specifically, not on whoever is available

Nice to have, not required

Experience with children with disabilities, IEPs, or behavior plans · RBT certification · CPI or Pro-ACT training · bilingual in Spanish, Hmong, Punjabi, Dari, or Vietnamese · coursework in education, psychology, child development, or special education · experience as a caregiver, home health aide, camp counselor, or preschool aide
