Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals with behavioral health needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. This role involves direct patient care, behavioral management, crisis intervention, and medical documentation to ensure comprehensive and respectful treatment. The Behavioral Health Technician will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to promote positive outcomes and enhance the quality of life for clients in various settings.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately as part of patient care
- Implement behavior management strategies based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques
- Support clients during crisis situations through effective crisis intervention and crisis management protocols
- Administer medications following prescribed guidelines while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Conduct medical documentation, including recording medical records, intake forms, and progress notes
- Collect data related to behavioral patterns and treatment responses for ongoing assessment
- Provide support tailored to individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or addiction recovery needs
- Assist in special education activities and support social work interventions when necessary
- Maintain a safe environment by recognizing potential safety hazards and responding appropriately
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavior management techniques
- Background in working with people with autism, PTSD care, or addiction counseling is advantageous
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation procedures, and medical records management
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement and basic patient care tasks
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient confidentiality and data security
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful and empathetic care
- Certification or training in applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavior management, or related fields is a plus
