Title: Finance Director (Supporting Multiple Realtor Associations)

Summary:
AMAS is an association management company currently seeking a Finance Director to oversee the Finance/Accounting Department at our office in Sandy Springs, GA. The department consists of 4 to 5 individuals responsible for full service accounting for 19 different organizations. The organizations include the Atlanta REALTORS® Association and the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®; 9 other REALTOR® associations in the north Georgia area , as well as a real estate school and multiple foundations.
The Finance Director is the senior financial leader responsible for managing all financial operations and ensuring the fiscal health and compliance of our multiple REALTOR® associations (the "Associations"). This role requires a strategic partner to the Association Executives (AEs) and Boards of Directors, providing expert guidance on financial strategy, reporting, and regulatory compliance specific to non-profit entities. The Director will implement robust internal controls and efficient financial systems to support the Associations' missions and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Operations
- Oversee all day-to-day financial activities, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations for each assigned association.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes and the preparation of all financial statements.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and investment portfolios in adherence to each association's investment policy guidelines and board directives.
- Develop, implement, and audit written financial policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all entities.
- Manage banking relationships and the administration of online banking platforms.
Reporting and Strategic Planning
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Association Executives and Boards of Directors, providing actionable insights, financial analysis, and guidance to support decision-making.
- Lead the annual budget development process for each association, aligning budgets with strategic initiatives and ensuring meticulous monitoring of revenue and expenses.
- Prepare and present clear, user-friendly financial reports, statements, and budget analysis to Boards of Directors and Finance Committees at scheduled meetings.
- Develop financial forecasts and conduct multi-year financial planning scenarios.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal government regulations, as well as non-profit accounting principles (GAAP) and IRS requirements (e.g., Form 990, 1099s).
- Coordinate the annual audit process with external CPA firms and auditors, ensuring all necessary documentation and reports are prepared accurately and on time.
- Design and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets, reduce financial risk, and ensure accountability across all financial transactions.
- Manage risk assessment and procure appropriate insurance coverages for each association.
Inter-Association Support and Collaboration
- Provide expertise and training to staff and volunteer leaders on financial workflows, policies, and systems to ensure consistent financial discipline.
- Foster strong working relationships and collaboration among the leadership of the different associations served, balancing the needs and fiduciary duties owed to each independent entity.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Master's degree or CPA designation highly preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit, association management, or real estate-related environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing the financial operations for multiple entities or funds with complex reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
- Proficiency with financial accounting software (e.g., Bill.com, Xero, ADP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to diverse audiences, including volunteer boards.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and drive process improvements and system implementations.
