EL Data Technician

Location: Assessment/DAC

12 months, 8 hours per day

Grade 20, $ 19.00 per hour

Dates: 7/1/2026 - 6/30/27

 

The job of EL Data Technician is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting the district in state and federal accountability of EL data and related data tasks, and serving as a resource to other district and school personnel requiring assistance with EL data.

 

This job reports to Director of Assessment 

 

Essential Functions

Maintains precise and current EL data for the purpose of providing accurate documentation in compliance with current regulations.

 

Provides technical assistance, advice, and support to department and school staff.

 

Responds to a variety of requests for data reports.

 

Conveys critical data updates to department and school staff.

 

Responds to a variety of inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or direction about EL and former EL students from district and school personnel.

 

Coordinates the assessments of PHLOTE and EL students who have not been assessed in a timely manner. 

 

Designs and configures the AZELLA tests set up in Infinite Campus (Student Information System) to be able to manually enter AZELLA Initial Assessments and AZELLA Spring Reassessment scores.

 

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation in both English and Second Language preferred; age appropriate activities.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job- related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups including those with limited English proficiency; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

 

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.

 

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

 

Experience:  Job related experience is required.
