AFSS is seeking an RF Engineering Technician in Colorado Springs, CO to support the Ground Based Radar Maintenance and Sustainment Service (GMASS) program.
Key Role
- Performs maintenance and routine diagnostic testing designed for computer and network equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot related product malfunctions, modify, wire fabricate and document devices related to work.
- Assesses and documents current site configuration and user requirements.
- Directs and leads preparation of engineering plans and site installation.
- Works from rough engineering notes, drawings, sketches and verbal instructions or defined plans to perform appropriate task.
- Provides technical support in such areas as research, design, development, testing, analysis, fabrication, manufacturing, and welding of hardware deliverables.
- Performs installation, integration, and testing of hardware deliverables.
- Investigates available integration lab hardware and software products, evaluates and recommends products based on user requirements.
- Coordinates with the procurement function to interview, select and negotiate with hardware and software vendors in order to purchase the appropriate integration lab equipment at the lowest cost.
- 3 years of experience with communication-electronics and RF systems operations and maintenance
- High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in related technical field - OR -Bachelors degree in hard science and 3 years experience or Advanced degree and 1 year experience.
- U.S. Citizenship in order to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Experience and knowledge of the Upgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR) System and the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attach Characterization Systems (PARCS) and their network architectures.
