Position Summary
ASRC Earthworks is seeking a skilled Finish Blade Hand to perform accurate final grading on civil construction projects in Anchorage, Alaska. This position supports site development, road construction, airfield work, and general earthmoving operations. Work is performed outdoors on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate motor grader to perform finish grading to project standards and tolerances.
- Read and interpret grade stakes, as-built information, and project plans.
- Utilize GPS machine-control systems when applicable (experience preferred).
- Perform basic equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with crew leads, survey teams, and field staff.
- Assist with field tasks when needed, including safe site movement and equipment coordination.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience operating a motor grader for finish work.
- Ability to read and understand grade stakes and project expectations.
- Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow established procedures.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet project access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GPS machine control systems.
- Prior heavy-civil construction experience.
Work Schedule
Schedules vary by project and season. Typical schedules range from 5-12s up to 7-12s during peak periods. Actual work hours are determined by project management based on operational needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely enter and exit heavy equipment.
- Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain, including from vehicle to assigned equipment.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform basic physical tasks.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and use required PPE.
