Housekeeper

JOB SUMMARY

Part-Time, Regular - starting pay is $25.00 per hour. Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, the primary functions of this position are to clean rooms and halls in the hotels by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

• Sorts, counts, folds, mark or carry linens.
• Makes beds.
• Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies.
• Moves furniture, hangs drapes, and rolls carpets.
• Cleans lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
• Dusts furniture.
• Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
• Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays.
• Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Maintains a clean, safe, hazard free work environment at all times.
• Courteously and promptly responds to guest requests.
• Providing excellent customer service
• Works harmoniously and professionally with coworkers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
• High school or equivalent certification.
• Physical fitness to perform cleaning and heavy lifting assignments.
• Previous background should include demonstrated ability to deal with the general public.
• Must be able to work independently and must be willing to work shifts that vary from day to night and operate seven days a week.
• The ability to speak and understand the Inupiaq language is important and preferred.
