Description

We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Georgia —whether your expertise is in Power Systems, Protection & Control, or Substation Engineering—who is ready to shape the future of the grid and strengthen the reliability of critical power infrastructure. Join us at Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) and take on high‑impact work supporting utility‑scale transmission, distribution, and substation projects across the region.

At AES, you’ll lead complex engineering solutions, collaborate with a talented multidisciplinary team, and influence technical decisions that drive the evolution of our industry. If you thrive in a dynamic environment, take ownership, and want to leave your mark on major utility projects, this is where your career can accelerate.

Work Location & Schedule

This position is based in Georgia and follows a hybrid work schedule. While flexibility is offered, candidates must be able to work on‑site several days per week—or as required by project needs or leadership direction.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Regional travel within Georgia and neighboring states is required to meet with customers, support field activities, attend project meetings, and maintain strong client relationships.

How You Will Make an Impact

You will contribute as a senior technical leader across a wide range of power system engineering disciplines, including transmission, distribution, substation, and protection & control.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design and analysis for transmission, distribution, and substation projects.

  • Work on substation engineering including equipment specifications, one‑lines, three‑lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and grounding design.
  • Configure and integrate substation networking systems (managed switches, LAN architecture).
  • Conduct event, relay, and disturbance analysis to support system troubleshooting and restoration.
  • Develop and review SCADA configurations including RTU logic, HMI screens, and communication interfaces.
  • Interpret and apply utility standards, industry codes, and relevant cybersecurity requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership to multi‑disciplinary project teams.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Interface directly with utility clients to present engineering solutions and resolve technical issues.
  • Support field activities such as commissioning, relay testing, troubleshooting, and system verification.
  • Serve as Owner’s Engineer by reviewing designs and guiding project execution teams.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • 8–12 years of experience in power systems, protection & control, or substation engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Strong knowledge of power system theory, protection principles, and substation design.

  • Experience with networked substation architectures and managed switches (e.g., Ruggedcom).
  • SCADA/RTU/HMI experience (e.g., Cimplicity or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with power system study software such as ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, SKM, or similar.
  • PE license preferred (any state; Georgia PE is a plus).
