Aspireon Academic Support
Varina, IA Part Time | Contractor
POSTED ON 8/17/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/13/2026

Position Overview:The Academic Coach partners with students in a personalized, collaborative coaching relationship to strengthen executive function and self-directed learning. The focus of this role is on how students learn — building skills such as time management, task initiation, organization, goal setting, self-monitoring, and emotional regulation to support the content — rather than teaching specific subject content. • Facilitate development of time management systems, organizational strategies, and structured study routines tailored to each student’s learning profile.
  • Help students break down complex projects into actionable steps and support task initiation and follow-through.
  • Promote meta-cognition and self-monitoring, enabling students to reflect on and adjust their learning approaches.
  • Support emotional regulation and growth mindset development to enhance resilience, motivation, and confidence.

Strength-Based & Holistic Support

  • Use a strengths-based coaching philosophy to recognize and build on students’ individual assets while providing scaffolding where needed.
  • Address cognitive, emotional, and motivational aspects of learning to support each student’s holistic development.
  • Collaborate with parents, educators, specialists, and, where applicable, align work with students’ 504 Plans or IEPs to ensure cohesive academic support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or related field.
  • Valid and current teaching certification with at least five years of teaching experience.
  • Experience working with children (K-12) in educational or coaching settings, particularly with neurodivergent students.
  • Strong understanding of executive function skills and evidence-based strategies for development of time management, organization, and self-regulated learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, families, teachers, and educational partners.
  • Ability to individualize coaching approaches based on diverse learner profiles.

Desired Skills & Attributes (not required)

  • Experience or certification in special education.
  • Empathy and a strengths-focused mindset.
  • Patience and the ability to scaffold skills gradually toward independence.
  • Proficiency in goal setting, progress tracking, and reflective feedback.
  • Comfortable using educational technology and planning tools.
  • Commitment to inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming practices.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Flexible coaching sessions scheduled with students (in-person and/or virtual); scheduling is coordinated between the Academic Coach and the student’s family/teachers.
  • Collaboration with families and school staff as appropriate.
  • Opportunities for ongoing professional development in executive function coaching and learner support.
