Job Title: Senior SAP ABAP Developer RAP
Location: Washington, D.C. (Onsite)
Duration: 6 months contract

Role Overview
We are seeking a senior SAP ECC / S/4HANA RAP Technical Developer to support a large-scale finance ERP transformation. This is a hands-on, techno-functional role requiring deep ABAP expertise, strong S/4HANA modernization experience and the ability to deliver clean-core, upgrade-safe solutions aligned with SAP's architectural roadmap.

The role supports a multi-year migration from SAP ECC on-premise to SAP S/4HANA on-premise, with future extensibility into SAP BTP.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize custom ABAP solutions aligned with S/4HANA architecture and clean-core principles
• Adapt existing ECC custom code for S/4HANA compatibility (data model simplification, code remediation)
• Re-engineer legacy solutions using modern ABAP and cloud-ready development standards (Strict ABAP)
• Develop solutions using RAP, CDS Views, AMDP, and modern ABAP frameworks
• Participate in fit-gap analysis and translate functional requirements into technical designs
• Ensure solutions are scalable, upgrade-safe, and performance-optimized
• Support security adaptations and clean extensibility approaches
• Collaborate with functional, technical, and business stakeholders across finance processes
• Provide end-to-end ownership from design through build, testing, and deployment
• Contribute to side-by-side extensibility strategy on SAP BTP where applicable
• Participate in and successfully complete a hands-on technical coding assessment

Required Skills & Experience (Mandatory)

• 15 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development in ECC
• 7 years of SAP S/4HANA development experience
• Strong expertise in RAP, CDS, AMDP, and modern ABAP (OO ABAP, strict ABAP)
• Experience with S/4HANA custom code remediation and simplification item handling
• Solid understanding of clean-core architecture and upgrade-safe development
• Techno-functional experience with strong business process understanding (Finance preferred)
• Experience working in large-scale ERP transformation programs
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Onsite availability in Washington, DC (no exceptions)

Nice to Have

• Experience with SAP BTP and side-by-side extensibility
• Exposure to cloud-ready ABAP development models
• Prior experience in regulated or large enterprise environments
