- Review and verify patient information, including insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG to ensure accurate billing.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and manage the collection process for outstanding accounts.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing and coding.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
- Assist in the management of medical records to ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of medical collections processes.
- Experience with medical billing software and systems.
- Knowledge of coding practices including ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
