Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using paper charting, and electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following aseptic technique and medication protocols, including IV infusions when necessary.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures such as catheterization.
- Coordinate patient care plans, discharge planning, and case management for diverse populations including geriatrics or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical documentation for legal and billing purposes.
- Support infection control practices and adhere to state protocols
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state registration with BSN.
- Proven experience working in critical care environments such as ICU or trauma centers; experience in emergency medicine or hospital medicine is highly valued.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology to perform accurate patient assessments and procedures.
- Experience working with specialized populations including long-term care residents, or individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to perform complex clinical tasks such as tube feeding administration, ostomy care.
- Excellent communication skills for assessments, patient education on health coaching topics like medication management or nutrition.
