Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, including DEXA scans for bone density assessment and PET scans for metabolic imaging, adhering strictly to established protocols.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately, following aseptic techniques and radiation safety guidelines.
- Operate complex medical imaging equipment with precision, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
- Assist physicians in the interpretation of imaging results by providing high-quality images and relevant physiological data.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, patient information, and radiation doses in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Educate patients about procedures, addressing their concerns and ensuring comfort throughout the process.
- Monitor patients during procedures for adverse reactions or complications, responding promptly as needed.
- Uphold strict infection control practices and aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during all procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and treatment planning.
- Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology, including new imaging modalities and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Certification or licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist from an accredited program or regulatory body.
- Proven experience performing nuclear medicine procedures such as DEXA scans, PET scans, and other diagnostic imaging techniques.
- Strong knowledge of human physiology and anatomy to accurately interpret imaging results and assist in diagnostic evaluations.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to nuclear medicine and radiology practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of nuclear medicine principles, including radiation safety and aseptic techniques.
- Proficiency in operating advanced medical imaging equipment used in nuclear medicine departments.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to maintain meticulous records while adhering to strict safety standards and protocols.
