What are the responsibilities and job description for the Looking for a Junior Robotics / Mechatronics Prototype Builder — Charleston, SC position at Aspire Drafting Inc.?
I'm working on a fun garage-based prototype involving a small autonomous outdoor rover and am looking for someone local who enjoys actually building things.
This is not a senior engineering position. A college student, recent graduate, hobbyist, maker, or self-taught builder could be a great fit.
Some hands-on experience with a few of the following would be ideal:
• Raspberry Pi and/or Arduino
• Python
• Basic Arduino/C
• DC motors and motor drivers
• Cameras and basic OpenCV
• Distance sensors, encoders, IMUs, etc.
• Relays, MOSFETs, pumps and other 12V components
• Soldering, wiring and using a multimeter
• RC cars, robots, drones or other DIY electronics projects
• 3D printing or basic fabrication is a plus
You do not need to be an expert in all of these areas.
I'm primarily looking for someone curious and mechanically inclined who can take an idea, wire components together, write some basic code, test it, break it, figure out why it broke, and try again.
The initial goal is to build a crude working outdoor rover prototype. If the project works, there could be considerably more development afterward.
This is a paid project, and I'd prefer someone in the Charleston / North Charleston area so we can work hands-on with the prototype.
