The Coordinator of ELL Services reports to the Principal/School Director of the assigned CHP School and is responsible for ensuring the school's programs and curricula are implemented to English Language Learners in order to maximize student learning experiences and increase the achievement of LEP students

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following is an explanation of the duties of Coordinator of ELL Services. It includes the major highlights of the requirements of the position. There should be a clear understanding that the duties outlined below are not all-encompassing. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to Coordinator of ELL Services as required.

Facilitates the development of a detailed ELL program improvement plan.

Coordinates an annual ELL comprehensive program evaluation and completes associated state reports.

Assists in the development and administration of an annual limited English proficient student, parent survey.

Create monthly/quarterly newsletter for ESOL students/families (if possible); ESOL Program brochure; ESOL Program Quick Facts Sheets.

Determines, develops and implements an effective staff development program related to language acquisition and effective instructional practices for LEP learners.

Provides demonstration lessons to teachers of ELL.

Provides consultation for regular classroom teachers concerning best practices to work with their students in classrooms who are limited English proficient.

Continuously monitors the progress of identified Limited English Proficient (LEP) students.

Provides leadership, continuity and compliance with federal and state law.

Supports and supervises an educational program designed to assist students to become self-sufficient in English as soon as practical.

Maintains the official program records and statistics of all ESOL students.

Coordinates the administration of testing for ELL students; order tests and labels, create testing schedules, organize tests, package and label completed tests.

Track which students who qualify for Spanish version of PSSA tests.

Communicates to parents via telephone calls, meetings, and correspondence that have been translated into the primary language of the parent.

Facilitates the translation of written English materials into Spanish and supervises the translation into other languages as required.

Assists LEP students with school registration, parent conferences, and home learning skills.

Monitor exited ESOL students and formally exit ESOL students who meet requirements.

Create and present monthly professional development for the assigned CHP Schools’ teaching staff and ESOL/ELL Teachers.

Conduct weekly meetings with ESOL teachers and provide support inside and outside their classrooms

Monitor ESOL teachers' instruction and use data to help ESOL teachers drive classroom instruction.

Track data associated with ESOL students including; total numbers by grade, breakdown by WIDA levels, certified ESOL instructors at the assigned CHP Schools, and yearly progress of students.

Bachelor's Degree in Education; Master's degree preferred

Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred

Pennsylvania English as Second Language Certificate required

The Coordinator of ELL Services will work indoors, outdoors, on and off campus with frequent stressful situations.

There is a 37.5 hour plus work week that includes occasional weekend and evening work.
