π Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Compliance
- Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and labor laws
- Process payroll transactions including pay changes, bonuses, reimbursements, and garnishments
- Ensure timely payment of payroll taxes and withholdings
- Audit and reconcile payroll data and balance sheet accounts
- Support W-2 preparation and reconciliation to the general ledger
- Generate payroll reports and perform data analysis
- Maintain audit-ready payroll documentation
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers on payroll-related questions
- Resolve complex payroll issues with a strong customer service approach
- Respond to requests from regulatory and external agencies
- Maintain payroll system configurations, codes, and cost centers
- Support timekeeping system accuracy and compliance
- Maintain payroll-related content on internal platforms (e.g., SharePoint)
- Develop and document payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 5 years of high-volume payroll experience (nonprofit or complex funding environment preferred)
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- Strong knowledge of payroll practices, wage and labor laws, and compliance requirements
- Experience with payroll systems (UKG Ready/Kronos preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to handle complex payroll issues
