Asphalt Luteman

Asphalt Protectors, Inc, is looking for an experienced Luteman/raker. The Luteman/raker is responsible for distributing and leveling asphalt materials on paving surfaces using an asphalt lute. This role involves ensuring a smooth and even surface before the asphalt is compacted.

A minimum of two years of experience in Asphalt laborer and previous finish asphalt raking experience required. Rakers will use the tools necessary to spread the asphalt, base, dirt, or other materials to the proper grade. Luteman/raker will partner with other crew members to pave per plan specifications and execute any additional tasks.

Responsibilities

• Understand all aspects of asphalt paving operations and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project
• Asphalt Distribution: Use an asphalt lute to distribute and spread asphalt evenly across the paving surface.
• Surface Leveling: Level the surface of the asphalt to ensure it is smooth and free of irregularities.
• Quality Control: Monitor the quality of the asphalt application to ensure a uniform finish.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain the asphalt Lute and other related equipment.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Team Coordination: Work closely with other crew members to ensure efficient and effective paving operations.
• Site Maintenance: Keep the job site clean and free of debris.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with crew members, clients, and supervisors.
• Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise on the job site
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
• Proficient in the use of an asphalt lute and other paving equipment.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure high-quality and precise finish.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Reliability: Dependable and consistent in attendance and performance.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to address issues and find solutions on the job.
• Experience: Previous experience in asphalt paving or similar construction roles is preferred
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred
• Must be able to apply and retain information
• OSHA 10 Certification
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to jobs or office as required.
• At least 2 years of previous finish asphalt raking experience is required.

Physical Demands

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an Asphalt Raker to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
• Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and carry at least 30 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
• Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
• Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
