A Sr. Scientist in Chemistry Research in the Heritage Research Group is expected to utilize advanced knowledge in chemistry, creativity, and knowledge of emerging technologies to solve a diverse and complex array of problems, develop innovative solutions, and identify new areas for value creation for customers. They coach other scientists in proper experimental design, implementation and data analysis, role model safe conduct in the laboratory and hold team members accountable for proper documentation and knowledge management. They are adept at customizing communication for various audiences, building relationships, adapting to change, responding positively to and incorporating feedback, and addressing conflict. Qualified candidates must currently reside within 75 miles of the Indianapolis, IN area or be willing to relocate.*** Essential Functions Perform wet-bench chemistry procedures toward the advancement of projects Generate, lead, and execute organic synthesis projects in the development of novel compounds Collaborate with cross-functional teams during innovation, synthesis, and development Maintain high standards of scientific rigor while also demonstrating the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and and research direction Complete timely and high quality reports describing in detail findings and methods used to inform future experiments. Adapt presentation content and style of delivery for different internal and external audiences. Continuously learn and explore diverse scientific fields that apply to current projects and/or generate new ideas Understand customer needs and partners with them to design solutions. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills. Education Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree BS or MS with 10-15 years of experience will also be considered Preferred PhD PhD with 7 years of experience preferred; Chemistry (Organic Chemistry concentration preferred) Experience Qualifications Required 10 years with relevant experience Preferred PhD with 7 years experience Skills and Abilities Demonstrated track record of innovation in the development of new materials Outstanding organizational, problem solving and creative thinking skills Experience across multiple chemistry disciplines in the application of synthetic chemistry and materials development Experience working in cross-functional teams offering expertise and insights to advance a project Excellent knowledge of complex data analysis Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders Ability to respond proactively to needs or issues Creative problem solving and ability to learn quickly new skills to contribute to evolving research needs Proactively seeks to understand customer needs and partners with them to design solutions.
