Build Your Career at Meigs Transport! The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing company vehicles and equipment. This role requires knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, and various mechanical components to ensure that vehicles and equipment function effectively and safely. Essential Functions Maintain fleet of trucks Diagnosing and repairing class 8 trucks (heavy duty) Ability to communicate effectively to ensure efficient repairs are made Evaluate truck performance Inspect equipment Report mechanical issues and problems to shop manager Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills. Education Qualifications High School or Equivalent is required Associate's Degree or technical certificate in automotive or diesel technology, maintenance or repair Experience Qualifications Prior experience in heavy highway construction is preferred 3-5 years experience working on Class 8 Trucks is preferred Skills and Abilities Accountability Communication Decision Making/Decision Quality Ethics/Integrity Instills Trust Working Conditions/Physical Demands The work environment described here is representative of those that experienced by an employee performing the essential functions of this job Continuous exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites, including heights, moving vehicles, stopped traffic Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, asphalt and/or concrete, dirt Indoor garage conditions that include regular exposure to noise, including horns, mechanical equipment, heavy equipment, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes and airborne particles Lifts, pushes, pulls, pours or carries heavy objects, loads of material Walks and stands for long periods of time Bends, stoops, squats, reaches to move materials Climbs in, out and under equipment; lays or stands under equipment Uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue Uses good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination, with the ability to quickly move arms and legs. #HCM1 About Meigs Transport Meigs Transport is a member of the Asphalt Materials Inc. family of businesses.
