Camp Nurse- (Health Director)
Overview:
We offer a traditional camp experience in the heart of Manhattan at two locations - the Upper East Side and Battery Park City. We focus on building confidence, character, and community. The program is offered to children ranging in age from 4 to 13 years old. Camp runs from Monday, June 29 to Friday, August 14 (no camp 7/3). Camp staff is required to be on the premises by 7:45 am and the day is over by 5:00 pm. Lunch is provided.
Reports To
- Director of Camps
General Responsibility Oversight of all health concerns of all campers on site
Specific Responsibilities Maintain good relations with campers, camp parents and camp staff
- Manage distribution of camper medication
- Handle all injuries and paperwork resulting from injuries
- Assist in medical planning for any off-site trips
- To use appropriate problem solving skills when needed
- Inform Director and/ or Associate Director of camper/counselor/parent problems
- Responsibilities could be reassigned and new duties may be added
- Qualifications
- Registered Nurse
- Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of children and adults
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance
- Good character, integrity, and adaptability
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience & self-control
- Previous experience working with medical needs of children
NOTE: All summer camp employees are required to attend orientation on the following day, the evenings of June 16& 17, June 24- 26, and all-day June 20 and 27, plus any pre-camp or in-season meetings as deemed necessary by camp management.
