JOB SUMMARY:
The Accountant ensures Aspen Mountain Medical Center’s financial records are maintained accurately and meets reporting deadlines in a timely manner. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day general accounting duties, overseeing the preparation of month-end financial and management reports including, but not limited to, the preparation of journal entries, maintaining detail account supporting schedules, ensuring account reconciliations are completed accurately. The accountant manages the monthly close process and is actively involved in preparing various daily, weekly, and monthly operating reports. The accountant oversees the accounts payable function of Aspen Mountain Medical Center. The accountant will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer in preparation of the annual budget and monthly variation analyses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee, review and approve the preparation and processing of journal entries in connection with general ledger accounts, research general ledger accounts, and check supporting entries.
2. Manage the preparation of the monthly/year end financial statements, including preparing a variety of periodic reports such as trial balances, balance sheets and operating statements; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
3. Assist with payroll and manage payroll reports.
4. Account analysis.
5. Maintain fixed asset and debt schedules.
6. Work with senior directors and managers; present recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
7. Oversee and review various cash and other account reconciliations and ensure accuracy.
8. Prepare various daily, weekly, and monthly operating reports in compliance with GAAP standards.
9. Manage and ensure that the AP Clerk receives and routes all invoices to proper managers for coding, and enter all approved invoices into accounting system accurately.
10. Review work of AP Clerk to ensure accuracy of invoice coding.
11. Review accounts payable report and propose to the CEO which invoices should be processed for payment. Once approved by CEO, AP Clerk can print and distribute checks.
12. Manage and resolve issues relating to purchase orders, invoices, and check requests.
13. Communicate with outside vendors and internal directors, managers, and other staff regarding questions and issues related to payment requests.
14. Audit, develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
15. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
16. Adhere to company policies, procedures and business ethics while focusing on safety and best practices.
17. Initiate and review external audits/reviews.
18. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equal experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of general accounting / financial reporting experience.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
