Aspen High School seeks a full-time Mathematics Teacher to begin duties for the 2026-2027 School Year.  

 

Position Title: Math Teacher

Department: Aspen High School

Reports to: Aspen High School Principal

Classification: Certified

Contract Period: 9 Months (185 days with some variance depending on the year)

Compensation: Certified Salary Schedule

Position Description 

The purpose of this position is to instruct math courses at the high school level, implement interventions for students needing support for core classes, and teach to improve the mathematics competencies of students who are working in pre-high school mathematics standards.

  • Qualifications: Applicants must be qualified to provide direct and explicit instruction in the areas of Algebra I, Geometry, Probability, and Statistics, although knowledge of mathematics beyond these areas is preferred.  The ideal candidate will also be qualified and willing to work with teachers to explore, identify, characterize, and measure progression in students’ mastering of mathematics.
  • Requirements: Candidates must possess a current Colorado Teaching License with an endorsement in Secondary Mathematics or have the ability to obtain this license within the first 3 months of hire.
  • Experience with MTSS / MYP / IB. 

 

The successful candidate for this position will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the content area they teach;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CO Common Core Mathematics Curriculum and academic standards
  • Demonstrate expertise in instruction and progress monitoring
  • Demonstrate expertise of the ways in which learning takes place and the appropriate levels of cognitive, social, and emotional development of students
  • Establish a respectful environment of a diverse population of students;
  • Facilitate learning for all students using a variety of instructional methods, integrating and utilizing technology, to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Reflect on teaching practices, analyzing student learning to modify/enhance instruction;
  • Possess the ability to communicate and interact effectively and productively, both verbally and in writing, with all staff, students, parents, and community members
  • Demonstrate leadership by collaborating with colleagues and the school community to enhance the teaching profession; Demonstrate ability to work with cross-departmental and or grade-level teams to develop goals for improving student achievement
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for collaboration and implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) with a team of administrators, teachers, and support staff
  • Have a strong desire to extend learning experiences beyond the classroom including participation in experiential education;
  • Take responsibility for student growth using a variety of assessments and ongoing improvement of instructional practice.
  • Demonstrate teacher leadership, advocate for students, and exhibit high ethical standards
  • Have a strong desire to extend learning experiences beyond the classroom, including participation in the Aspen High School Experiential Education Program

Experience and training in IB are preferred. This may include IB teaching, tutoring, or examining experience. Implement meaningful lessons and units in your classroom while meeting the IB Program requirements. Participate in IB professional development and workshops, that may be outside of contract time.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide small group and classroom support for developing math students
  • Analyze math assessment data, monitor progress, and manage student plans for developing math students
  • Assist teachers with data interpretation
  • Assist teachers with specific student accommodations and modifications
  • Assist teachers in implementing new strategies to improve student learning

  • Observe all District policies and procedures
  • Ensures full attendance on all contracted workdays as outlined in the employment agreement, including arriving on time and remaining for the entire contracted day.
  • Be present and actively engaged during the scheduled workdays according to the school’s academic calendar, observing holidays, breaks, and scheduled professional development days as appropriate.
  • Arrive on time for all scheduled workdays and meetings, including the beginning of school, lunch breaks, and any special assignments, ensuring minimal disruption to the academic schedule.
  • Notify the appropriate school personnel in advance for any anticipated absences, including following district procedures for requesting leave, and provide documentation when necessary.
  • In the event of an absence, ensure that appropriate substitute plans are prepared and submitted in accordance with school policy, facilitating a smooth transition for students.

Working Environment:  The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, sitting, significant standing, walking, and repetitive motion with computer work. The job is performed in a generally clean and comfortable environment.

Salary : $54,000 - $88,144
