Position: Properties and Scenic Craftsperson
Department: Production

Salary Range: $22 - $25/ hr overtime plus PTO

Union IATSE 412 – benefits pension and health

General Summary: Asolo Rep (LORT B) Florida's premier professional theatre and one of the most important cultural forces in the Southeastern US is seeking to fill its Properties Carpenter Position primarily responsible for the build, pulling, repair, transport, install, and strike properties for Asolo Repertory Theatre productions, rentals, and outside work under the direction of Properties Director. This is a full-time staff position which requires a candidate to be a resident of the community, modest relocation available. This position is under an IATSE 412 contract union membership is not required

Essential Job Functions:

•     Build, pull, repair, transport, install, maintain, and strike Asolo Rep properties

•     Maintain prop and scene shop equipment and inventory

•     Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe work environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•     Background in theatrical construction, finish carpentry, properties construction, and/or related work

·    Ability to read and work from shop and designer drawings

•      Knowledge of and ability to create properties elements from a wide selection of time periods, cultures, and styles.
•     Comfortable working with power and manual tools in a safe and efficient manner
•     Punctual, self-motivated, and detail oriented. Works effectively as both a team and individual
•     Comfortable working at heights from Genie lifts, ladders, and scaffolding, Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Night and Weekend Hours occasionally required
