Lead Data Center Technician
New Castle, Delaware | Onsite - Full Time | $125,000 - $155,000 base salary
Overview
We’re supporting a rapidly growing AI infrastructure company building and operating large-scale GPU environments for some of the most demanding AI workloads.
As the company expands its data center footprint, they’re looking for a Lead Data Center Technician to take ownership of day-to-day operations at a growing site in Delaware.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being close to the hardware. You’ll work across GPU compute, high-speed networking and supporting infrastructure, while becoming the senior technical presence on site.
The Opportunity
- Take ownership of a growing AI data center environment rather than joining a large established operations team.
- Work hands-on with NVIDIA GPU infrastructure and high-speed InfiniBand and Ethernet networking.
- Become the senior technical resource on site with significant autonomy over day-to-day operations.
- Work directly with remote engineering, networking and operations teams to solve complex infrastructure issues.
- Help shape operating procedures, escalation processes and standards as the site scales.
- Grow into broader leadership responsibility, helping hire, train and mentor additional technicians.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for keeping the site operating reliably, from hardware troubleshooting and repairs through to networking, cabling, equipment deployments and vendor coordination.
You’ll initially operate as the lead technician on site, with the opportunity to help build the local team as the facility grows.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day technical operations and prioritise issues across the site.
- Diagnose and repair GPU compute, storage and networking hardware.
- Troubleshoot servers using POST, BIOS, BMC and serial console.
- Investigate physical network issues across switches, optics, fibre and cabling.
- Install, rack, cable, relocate and decommission data center equipment.
- Coordinate hardware vendors, contractors, colocation teams and equipment repairs.
- Maintain accurate asset, rack, cabling and infrastructure records.
- Develop runbooks, maintenance procedures and escalation processes for the site.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 5 years of hands-on data center hardware experience.
- Experience operating as a senior or lead data center technician.
- Hands-on experience working with NVIDIA GPU servers.
- Experience troubleshooting InfiniBand and/or high-speed Ethernet environments.
- Strong server hardware troubleshooting and component replacement experience.
- Experience with structured copper and fibre cabling, optics and network hardware.
- Ability to independently manage technical issues and make appropriate escalation decisions.
Nice to Have
- Experience replacing GPU modules within NVIDIA HGX systems.
- Linux command-line and Python or Bash experience.
- Experience with NetBox or similar DCIM platforms.
- Exposure to liquid-cooled data center environments.
- Experience training technicians or helping build an on-site operations team.
