Job Title: Accountant (Entry-Level)

Position Summary

The accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations and assists in maintaining accurate financial records for ASM and its related entities. This is an entry-level role designed to provide hands-on experience and development in core accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, and the month-end close process.

This position is part of a small, collaborative finance team and reports directly to the Controller. The role offers broad exposure to multiple aspects of accounting in a non-profit environment.

Essential Job duties & responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations with guidance from senior team members
• Support accounts payable and expense processing as needed
• Assist in maintaining fixed asset records and related reporting
• Track daily cash and bank activity
• Support preparation of financial reports and schedules
• Assist with annual audit preparation by gathering required documentation
• Support sales and use tax filings and 1099 reporting processes
• Participate in ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as needed

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Up to 2 years of accounting experience (internships included)
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., basic formulas, data organization) and Word
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured and organized manner
• Ability to manage tasks independently while collaborating with a small team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates a service-oriented mindset when supporting internal stakeholders
