POSITION

The barback assists bartenders and ensures that all guests have the highest quality bar/dining experience possible.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain a clean, well-groomed, professional appearance at all times.
• Perform opening and closing duties (bar is set up properly by opening time, and the bar and liquor storage areas clean, re-stocked and well organized by closing time).
• Ensure a consistent flow of services to guest by assisting bartender with all aspect of their job functions.
• Prepare sliced fruits, garnish, and other accoutrements for bar service ensure supplies, and ingredients for drinks are always available to the bartender.
• Uphold cleanliness of bar spaces, all glassware, bar tops, tables, floors, and bar tools/equipment.
• Maintain personal health and sanitation standards based on health regulations.
• Possess knowledge of current food/drink choices, brands, specialties, origin, and preparation methods.
• Continuously monitor bar to ensure that all guests are receiving beverage service in a timely manner.
• Communicate with management, dining room and kitchen team to ensure restaurant standards are upheld and guests’ requests are met
• Keep a polite, professional demeanor, engaging guests in friendly conversation when appropriate
• Maintain personal health and sanitation standards based on health regulations.
• Exhibit professional grooming standards as outlined by management.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Follow all company/bar safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 21 years of age or older.
• Food Handlers card is required
• High school diploma.
• TIPS / RBS certification is required.
• Basic mathematical skills to handle money and give correct change.
• One (1) year of experience in a similar position preferred.
• Knowledgeable in basic classic cocktails and other beverage.

SKILLS/APTITUDES:

• Strong guest service orientation.
• Excellent communication skills (verbally interacts with management, team members and guests).
• Identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism and work calmly and effectively under pressure.
• Ability to take directions and be a team player.
• Multi-task oriented and self-motivated.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to speak and hear, vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Constant standing, sitting, and walking.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop.
• Be able to lift up to 40 pounds (e.g., cases of liquor, helping with kegs)
• Regularly required to use hands and frequent washing of hands.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The noise level in the work environment usually is moderate to loud.
• The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with difficult guests.
• Work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 / hour
