Certified Ophthalmic Technician

To assist the ophthalmologist in eye examinations and outpatient surgical procedures; to perform moderately complex tests and evaluations and record results.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or its equivalent.
• Two years of college with courses in ophthalmic technology and/or the health science area is desirable, but not required.
• Certification at the Certified Ophthalmic Technician level, preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families and employees.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities.

Required Length and Type of Experience:     

• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent customer interaction skills.

Required Licensure or Certification:

• Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician, prefererd.
