Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of patient histories, treatment plans, and medical coding.
- Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards throughout all procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support the dental receptionist with scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Utilize advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and other imaging tools to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions related to procedures or billing processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chair Side Dental Assistant with a strong background in general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or pediatric dentistry.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for medical documentation and records management.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately and safely.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience supporting four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, vital signs monitoring, and pediatric dentistry considerations.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other staff members involved in patient care.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of safety and hygiene.
