Job Description

Ashoka is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Volunteer to help us optimize our data strategy for AI initiatives. We aim to create a comprehensive understanding of how information from our global network flows through our core systems (such as Salesforce, PostgreSQL, and others) and ultimately informs our strategic decision-making.

The Challenge: Our diverse data sources currently feed into various systems, and we need a clear, visual representation of these pathways. Understanding these data flows is critical for leveraging our information more effectively for our AI projects and your insights will directly impact our ability to derive actionable intelligence from our network.Your Role: As our AI Data Flow Architect, you will:

• Analyze and Map Existing Data Flows: Work with our team to understand how information is currently collected, processed, and stored across Ashoka's systems.
• Develop a Comprehensive Data Flowchart: Create clear, detailed visual diagrams illustrating the movement of data from its origin to its various destinations and transformations.
• Propose Data Integration & Optimization Strategies: Beyond mapping, you will provide a written explanation and proposal outlining how these different data sets can be optimally connected and utilized to enhance our decision-making processes and fuel our AI projects.

You possess exceptional analytical skills and a proven ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences. Your expertise will be invaluable in shaping Ashoka's data infrastructure for future AI advancements.

Desired Skills And Experience

• Data Architecture and Modeling: You need a deep understanding of how data is structured, stored, and managed across different systems. This includes knowledge of database schemas, data warehousing, and data lake concepts.
• Database Management Systems: Experience with specific technologies mentioned, like Salesforce and PostgreSQL, and familiarity with other database types, both relational and non-relational, is highly desirable.
• Data Integration and ETL/ELT: You should be proficient in the processes and tools used to extract, transform, and load data (ETL) from various sources into a central location. This is crucial for creating a unified view of Ashoka's data.
• Data Visualization: The ability to create "clear, detailed visual diagrams" means you need to be skilled in tools and techniques for data flow mapping and visualization (e.g., using software like Lucidchart, Microsoft Visio, or other diagramming tools).
• AI/Machine Learning Fundamentals: While not an AI engineer role, an understanding of how data is used to train and power AI models is essential. This will allow you to propose strategies that effectively "fuel our AI projects."
