What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Architect - Multifamily position at Ashley McGraw Architects, D.P.C.?
Job Description
We seek a project architect and/or job captain to help guide project teams in our growing multifamily housing practice. This individual will be responsible for supporting the project manager by in preparing the design and contract documents for large multifamily and mixed-use projects in multiple sectors. In this capacity the project architect leads an internal architecture team of 2 to 4 people per project. Additionally, you will collaborate with the studio’s Principal and project managers to refine the firm’s multifamily project standards and marketing strategy.
This position is a hybrid remote role. Candidate must be within driving distance of projects in Upstate New York between Syracuse and New York City and have the ability to attend in person meetings in Syracuse when required (at least once per month). Our current projects include both LIHTC and market rate multifamily projects across New York State, ranging between 50 and 300 units each. Multiple projects are pursuing green building standards such as LEED and Passive House.

- A degree in Architecture (licensure preferred)
- 5 years of experience with large architecture projects
- 3 years experience with multifamily housing
- Experience with wood frame construction
- Ability to manage others in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced knowledge of Revit
- Experience with sustainable projects
- Experience with New York State LIHTC projects
- Familiarity with a wide range of construction types
- Willingness to work in both design and technical capacities
- Ability to communicate design concepts to clients
- 3 years of construction administration experience
- Must reside in Central/Western/Southern Tier regions of New York State
