Ashland University seeks a graduate assistant to work in the Athletic Department. This position will perform tasks with a number of areas within the department. Ashland University is a NCAA Division II institution that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). The university is located midway between Cleveland and Columbus off of Interstate 71. Ashland University offers 24 varsity sports and annually works with more than 700 student-athletes.
- This position reports to the Director of Athletics and the Assistant Athletic Director for Game Operations and works in the main Athletics office located in Kates Gymnasium. This position has daily contact with coaches, Athletic Department staff and student-athletes.
- This position will be involved in a number of game-day functions. This can include ticketing, promotions, directing undergraduate students in a game-day environment and serving as the on-site administrator for game day.
- The position will be involved in managing several athletic facilities including the Niss Athletic Center (indoor athletic facility), Kates Gymnasium, Ferguson Field (soccer, lacrosse and track and field) and the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex.
- The Graduate Assistant could also assist other department heads such as compliance and academic counseling with special projects and events.
- This position will interact with the public on a regular basis. It will also have regular contact with staff and administration from other areas of campus.
- The Graduate Assistant in athletics is part of the department's executive staff and will attend that group's meetings and be involved in policy decisions and event planning.
- Bachelor's Degree from a college or university is required.
- Acceptance into Ashland University's graduate program is required.
- Candidates should be comfortable meeting people and working with large and small groups in meetings and game day settings.
- The ability to work evenings and weekends is required.
