Position Title Assistant Director of Digital Marketing - Marketing and Communications Job Description
The Assistant Director of Digital Marketing will proactively lead university marketing and communication efforts through the creation of integrated digital campaigns that focus on driving brand and enrollment growth, student experience, alumni and donor engagement, primarily through website enhancements, social media engagement, email / text marketing, SEO/AEO/GEO, and digital advertising.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of marketers within the larger department that specializes in digital marketing capabilities
- Develop a consistent and regular rhythm for employee development, engagement, and performance planning
- Prioritize building relationships across the entire institution to gain trust, collaboration, and valuable feedback for department initiatives
- In partnership with department leadership, create a comprehensive digital advertising, SEO/AEO/GEO, and website strategy that compliments and reinforces all other marketing tactics
- Act as the primary administrator for digital advertising, while also leveraging the expertise of the department resources for creative and tactical support
- Act as the primary day-to-day leader for institutional website properties and drive cross-functional execution on a multi-year enhancement roadmap
- Actively participate in strategic planning for institutional objectives and translate large ideas into tactical plans for the team
- Increase the reach, engagement, and conversions that take place on all website properties
- Identify the data driven impact digital advertising has on the recruitment funnel
- Beat industry and competitive benchmarks for social media engagement, email engagement, and additional digital communication channels
- Entrepreneurial drive towards achieving goals and solving problems
- A strategic thinker with the ability to break down complex initiatives into tactical work
- Able to prioritize effort and focus based on projected impact to strategic goals
- Able to translate strategy into creative tangible outputs
- Able to mix data analysis, campaign management, and creativity into a cohesive plan
- Capable of developing a vision for the future and incrementally working towards it
- Maintain an ongoing emphasis on building relationships with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and vendors
- Willingness to try new things and not afraid to fail
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital marketing, or related area of study.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of digital marketing experience, including website and digital advertising management
- MBA or advanced degree with a specialization in marketing preferred.
- Office environment.
- Must be able to work at the Ashland University main campus in Ashland, OH with appropriate flexibility provided.
