Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs, setting up machines, and ensuring precision in machining operations. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, technical drawing interpretation, and proficiency with various machining tools and software. The CNC Machinist Programmer plays a critical role in producing high-quality components with efficiency and accuracy, supporting our commitment to excellence in manufacturing.
- Level 1 – $16–$22/hour, 40 hours PTO (plus 8 hours/year)
- Level 2 – $18–$24/hour, 50 hours PTO (plus 8 hours/year)
- Level 3 – $22–$28/hour, 60 hours PTO (plus 8 hours/year)
- Level 4 – $26–$32/hour, 80 hours PTO (plus 8 hours/year)
- Level 5 – $28–$36/hour, 120 hours PTO (plus 8 hours/year)
- Level 6 – $30 per hour, 160 hours PTO (max 160 until year 20, then plus 4 hours/year)
Duties
- Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for milling and turning operations using CAM software.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications to ensure accurate machining processes.
- Set up CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines, including calibration with precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines.
- Operate CNC equipment (Fanuc controls preferred) to produce parts within specified tolerances.
- Perform troubleshooting and adjustments during machining to maintain quality standards.
- Conduct inspections using precision tools and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Maintain proper tooling setups, including selection of hand tools, power tools, and specialized tooling for various materials such as plastics or metals.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on design modifications using SolidWorks or CAD software.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all machining activities, including welding or plastic injection molding processes when applicable.
Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming and CAM software development.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T principles and blueprint reading skills.
- Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes, tooling, and machine maintenance.
- Familiarity with CNC lathe and CNC milling machines, especially Fanuc controls.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines effectively.
- Basic math skills necessary for calculations related to machining tolerances and dimensions.
- Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is advantageous.
- Experience with assembly work, welding techniques, or the use of power tools may be beneficial.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency in production workflows.
- Valid forklift operation skills are desirable for material handling within the shop environment.
