PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION:
The Afterschool Strings teacher will provide high-quality group instruction to 5th grade students in an afterschool program setting. The teacher will foster a positive, engaging, and supportive environment that builds students’ musical skills, teamwork, and love of learning. Instruction will focus on developing foundational skills on string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass), preparing students for middle school music programs and future musical opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience: Prior experience leading, facilitating or coaching student activities strongly preferred. Background in Music, Music Education, or related field (preferred) or equivalent professional experience. Proficiency on a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass); ability to model technique across instruments preferred. Prior teaching experience with elementary or middle school students strongly desired.Interpersonal/Communication Skills: Works well with diverse populations of students and adults. Strong communication skills including listening, problem solving, and de-escalation. Remains open to others’ ideas and contribute to building a positive student experience.
