Ashland Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate 8th Grade ELA Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will provide rigorous and engaging instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for English Language Arts and Literacy, with a focus on preparing students for high school-level reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate fosters a love for literature and writing, creates a supportive learning environment, and effectively differentiates instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Provides direct and differentiated instruction in English Language Arts to 8th-grade students, emphasizing reading comprehension, analytical writing, vocabulary development, and speaking/listening skills.Demonstrates deep knowledge of the MA ELA Curriculum Frameworks and implements lessons that meet grade-level standards while engaging students in high-level thinking and discourse.
Guides students through the writing process for multiple text types, including narrative, informational, and argument writing, with a strong focus on structure, evidence, revision, and voice.
Regularly assesses student learning through formative and summative assessments and uses data to inform instruction and provide targeted feedback.
Collaborates with grade-level and content-area colleagues to develop standards-based curriculum, evaluate student work, and plan interventions and enrichment opportunities.
Creates a classroom environment that fosters student independence, respectful discussion, and a growth mindset.
Supports the academic and social-emotional development of adolescents, building strong relationships with students and families.
Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues about student progress and instructional goals.

Requirements:
Valid MA teaching certification for grades 6-8 in ELA
