What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at Ashland County?
Responsibilities: Ability to provide highly skilled secretarial and general office coordination and support to the District Attorney (DA) as well as to the Assistant District Attorneys (ADA) including - creating, drafting and editing/revising documents; preparation of criminal, traffic, juvenile CHIPS and other matters, documents and other pleadings in the case file and management system (PROTECT, for which training will be provided to the successful applicant), filing of court documents (including e-filing with the court), generation and review of case notes and notes from court hearings, providing document support to the DA and ADAs for trials and other actions necessary, prepare subpoenas and trial documents, prepare and transmit discovery to defense counsel, monitor service of process on parties, investigative work (such as contacting other states, counties and agencies for background information), obtain criminal histories, criminal records and driving records from provided databases, monitor deferred entry of judgment agreements, provide phone and back-up window/counter service, order supplies, maintain budget information, voucher billing, maintain calendars, filing and other duties as assigned.
