Duties
- Maintain clean and sanitary kennels, cages, and common areas to promote a healthy environment for animals.
- Handle dogs and other small animals with care, ensuring proper restraint and safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Assist with pet grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and basic hygiene to keep animals comfortable and presentable.
- Provide pet sitting services by feeding, exercising, and monitoring animals’ behavior throughout their stay.
- Support veterinary staff with animal handling during examinations or treatments, including administering medications as directed.
- Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns promptly to veterinary or management staff.
- Lift heavy loads such as bags of pet food or large animals safely while adhering to proper lifting techniques.
- Maintain detailed records of animal care activities, including feeding schedules, medical treatments, and behavioral observations.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners and visitors about their pets’ needs and status.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, veterinary clinic, pet grooming facility, or similar environment is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely is required due to the physical nature of the job.
- Strong attention to detail in record-keeping and cleaning routines ensures a hygienic environment for all animals.
- Excellent communication skills to provide clear updates to pet owners and team members.
