Job Description Summary
This position will provide skills and training in cleaning service area to inmates at the Craggy Men’s Medium Correctional Center. The instructor will help students to understand real-life concepts and gain technical skills in housekeeping techniques, chemical controls, waste, job costing, and safety in this service industry environment
Duties
1. Agree and adhere to A-B Tech and both correctional centers’ policies, procedures, and rules for instructors.
2. Teach ISSA Commercial Cleaning curriculum provided by AB Tech.
3. Prepare outlines of instructional schedules and establish course goals in cooperation with the correctional facilities and AB Tech Coordinator.
4. Administer written tests to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness.
5. Maintain records to include student registration, grades, attendance rolls, and training activity details in a timely manner in accordance with the correctional facilities and AB Tech Coordinator.
6. Supervise, monitor, and be accountable for the students’ use of equipment and cleaning supplies in accordance with correctional facility and AB Tech.
Minimum Requirements
1. Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma;
2. Must have documented knowledge of subject matter;
3. Must have a minimum of one or more years of experience in Commercial Cleaning;
4. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, student, and inmate population;
5. Must have a valid NC Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Must have a minimum of one year of teaching or training experience;
2. Bloodborne Pathogens Awareness and Hazard Communications training;
3. Must have a minimum o f six months experience with teaching Adult Learners in an academic setting;
4. Must have a minimum of six months experience working with inmates in a correctional institution.
Special Instructions to Applicants
1. Must meet all Department of Public Safety (DPS) entrance requirements prior to an instructional assignment at a correctional facility. This includes but is not limited to successful completion of required training, DPS background check, and presentation of satisfactory COVID vaccination documentation.
2. If selected for hire, official sealed transcripts from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Department of Education or official transcript evaluation (required if the degree was attained outside the US) from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) recognized organization, are required to be received a minimum of two business weeks before the first day of work. Failure to comply may result in revocation of the job offer.
