Hours: 1st shift, Monday - Friday | No Supervisory Responsibilities | Minimal Travel | Pay commensurate with experience



JOB SUMMARY: 
The Recruiter is responsible for executing full-cycle recruitment efforts to ensure Ashe Memorial Hospital attracts, engages, and hires qualified candidates across all departments. This position plays a vital role in addressing the unique staffing challenges of a small, rural healthcare market by proactively sourcing talent, building community partnerships, and maintaining timely communication with applicants and hiring managers. The Recruiter supports organizational growth and stability by coordinating the hiring process, improving candidate experience, and strengthening the hospital’s presence in the regional labor market. 




MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:



Education and Experience: 



  • A bachelor’s degree (preferably in human resources, business, marketing, communications, public administration, or a related field).
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in recruitment, HR, or talent acquisition; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Healthcare recruitment experience preferred. 



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Key Responsibilities: 



1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
Manage full-cycle recruitment for all open positions, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing coordination, selection, and onboarding support.
Develop and execute proactive recruitment strategies to address hiring needs in a competitive rural labor market.
Maintain strong communication with candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure a professional and positive experience. 
Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and develop tailored recruitment plans

2. Sourcing & Labor Market Outreach

Build and maintain community relationships with schools, colleges, workforce agencies, and professional organizations.
Attend job fairs, career days, and community events to promote Ashe Memorial as an employer of choice.
Leverage social media, online job platforms, and professional networks to identify and attract passive candidates.
Manage and grow the hospital’s employer brand and recruitment marketing presence. 

3. Compliance, Policies & Documentation
Ensure recruitment activities align with employment laws, regulations, and internal policies. Maintain accurate and confidential recruitment files, documentation, and applicant records.  Support leaders in completing required hiring documentation and approvals. 

4. Hiring Manager Support & Communication
Serve as a point of contact for hiring managers regarding recruitment processes, candidate status updates, and labor-market insights. Provide guidance and training to supervisors on interviewing best practices and equitable selection methods.
Facilitate timely communication between candidates and leadership to reduce delays and improve hiring outcomes.
 

5. Applicant Tracking & Metrics
Maintain and optimize the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
Prepare recruitment metrics, vacancy reports, time-to-fill data, and trend analyses for HR leadership.
Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce vacancies. 

6. Candidate Experience & Onboarding Support
Ensure all applicants receive timely, professional communication.
Assist with new hire onboarding activities in collaboration with HR team members.
Promote a welcoming and supportive first impression for incoming employees.

7. Employee Engagement & Retention Support
Partner with HR team members to identify trends impacting retention and workforce stability.
Provide feedback to leadership on recruitment barriers and market conditions.
 

8. Other Duties
Perform other related duties as assigned to support HR operations.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 
Strong understanding of recruitment and talent acquisition best practices. 
Knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
Ability to build relationships and professionally represent the organization. 
Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills. 
Experience using applicant tracking systems and online sourcing tools. 
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. 
Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and customer service. 
Ability to analyze workforce trends and recruitment metrics. 
Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in a competitive and rural labor market. 



Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption). Candidates for employment will be notified of this policy requirement prior to the start of employment. After receiving an offer of employment, new employees must provide proof of vaccination or request and receive an exemption before beginning work.
