Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using safe lifting practices and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical records standards.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral health support.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), outpatient clinics, or home care environments to ensure comprehensive patient service.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care or phlebotomy to prevent infection and promote patient safety.
- Assist with patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling methods while adhering to safe lifting practices.
- Support patients with complex needs such as those requiring hospice or palliative care, ensuring comfort and dignity at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification from an accredited program with current state licensure.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospitals (ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers), long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home & community care settings.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for medical documentation and records management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques essential for delivering safe patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges; experience in dementia or Alzheimer's care is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to caregiving; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks; commitment to safe lifting practices and patient safety standards.
